Classic & Klezmer Workshop
Andorra’s Institute of Music
The workshop is named "CLASSIC & KLEZMER" because it wants to be a sample and a path to the initiation of the klezmer genre from the perspective of the classical musician.
• A first part will be aimed at a brief contextualization of cult music in World War II (most relevant composers, persecuted composers, Jewish culture ...) and in the idea of how music constitutes culture and serves to show its identity .
• Klezmer genre and contemporary Jewish composers who have taken their sonorous features to write current works.
• What is klezmer music special about? Know and work in a participatory and practical way the sonic magic that makes it unique (harmony, own stairs, ornamentation, techniques (gliss, growl - also typical of contemporary music, improvisation).
• Work on expressiveness and creativity, two concepts that define Klezmer and often forgotten in the study of classical music.
